I have played F.E.A.R. multiplayer as my first major FPS game (about 80 hours worth), as well as halo (but not online). I got into CoD4 about a year ago, and up until about 2 months ago was just pubbing my life away with an occasional TWL 4v4 hardcore match with an old pub clan {MOB} . 2 Months ago I decided that I wanted to get more serious with the game, so I waved my farewell to {MOB}, and decided to start playing SnD (almost never played it previously). Since then I have played many games, learned buckets, and have had a blast. I am looking for a clan to grow with, and have been pursuing several options (one of which I scrimmed against while playing with #Jesus, aawwwkkkwaaarrrddd).
I have been a christian since I was 8 years old, but now looking back I was just a christian shell... not really experienceing anything inside. I grew up in a christain home, with christian family and friends, went to a christian middleschool, all that jazz... but I guess I never truely made Christ my own. I had always been doubting whether this Christ guy was legit, or if this christianity thing was all just major brainwashing, people believing what they do because they had been taught to. I felt as if it was, because I felt I had no other choice growing up.
A month ago through a Navigator's young adult retreat (christian group, I dont usually go to weekly meetings but my sister (20) does and I decided to tag along) I came to discover what I had been missing my whole life, that really its not about how you act on the outside that makes who you are, but how God works inside you that is reflected on your outside. I was missing a God-sized chunk in my life.
That all being said, after the retreat the glow started to fade, and I started to fall back into my old routine. BUT THEN! *Gasp*
*flashback to a week ago*
Along in a flurry came roopie and wrzzzzzzZzzZ (heh) into the pub snd server I was in. They were sporting Jesus clan tags (and were kicking serious butt). This piqued my interest, as I don't have too much experience with mixing gaming and God. We started to chat, and thats when I decided I was going to try out for this clan. Competitive? check. Mature? check (well, apart from zip (haha love ya man
)). Potential for gaming growth? With my hacks, for sure (lol, kidding, for those who dont smell get it)! Thats where it all began. Little did I know another type of growth was happening even before I got on vent. And no, I don't mean that growth. The other one. Spiritual growth
*WAKE UP* Yes, I see you getting bored.. bear with me! This is getting longer than I thought possible, but alas..
Now, the interesting part. Its weird applying for a christain clan. You should know what Im talking about, it just isnt NORMAL. I guess thats the point, to not just being a clan for the sake of being a clan. Well, as soon as I committed to the plunge where I jumped on vent with you guys, I did a once over of myself... Just a quick look, to see if I really was who I was portraying myself to be. After that gaming time, I felt a weight on my heart, just that things weren't right in my life. I prayed a bit about it (NOT something I do often. In fact, the last time I truely prayed was way back at that retreat. This is something that I am changing) and have since cleared a lot of clutter from my life, emotionally and spiritually. I can't honestly say physically, because my room is still a mess:blush: . All this, from just thinking about appying for a christain clan!
I guess in the end, what I want to say is... Even if I DONT make it into your competitive clan, you guys, just by wearing your tag, have opened up a lot in my life as I did a real self reflection. I would love to continue on with you guys, because your lot is right up my alley, but if not then thats cool too.You prodded me back onto the path I want to be on.
In the near future my fate will be decided by you guys, and I am saddened by the fact that you do not accept monetary bribes.
Ok, now you can let your focus blur a bit, I'm done. Thanks for reading that huge first post, I appriciate it. I wasn't really expecting to give a testimony-ish thing here, but man, stuff happens, and I feel it should be said.
